A Natural Glow 2010 by Mark Corder

A Natural Glow 2010

Did I submit the first shot from the Legends Balloon Rally 2010 in Hot Springs? I ran right home with the camera ... posting this photo about 90-minutes after I took it!

I was in such a hurry yesterday I forgot to mention that I love it that is the "Arkansas...is a natural Balloon". I know you had that in mind and it makes this shot even better.

There are actually TWO of the "is a Natural" balloon (both owned by the state ... tourism board, I'd guess) and they were both there - along with the debut of a new Hot Springs balloon. I lucked-out on the position of this shot, and it forms a companion-piece to "A Natural Glow" - a similar shot I took in 2008 (you can see it on this site too - it's one of my more popular ones!)

Thanks for the compliments - and believe me that I'm as sorry about the game as you are!

I tried for some shots, but got a big zero. I'll try again next year. But my question is..... how do you do the soft HDR effect?

Were you the guy lucky enough to be at the top of the air tower?

Nope - I think that was a guy from the local paper. (Though I had considered asking - and may next year!) I shot this from the ground, right at the edge of the runway 5/23 ...

I must have been standing not far from you! Did they keep running you off of the runway, too? Small world! I posted mine on flickr http://flic.kr/p/8ETgDz

WOW! Yours is a knockout! Looks like it was taken about the same time - but that sunset and the "balloon-glowing" only lasted a few minutes. You must have been just west (further down the runway) from me. I was actually on the taxiway and they didn't shoo me off. I'm the guy with the long-red beard and straw hat ... look for me around and don't be a stranger!

Oops, I see now that you went Friday night instead of Saturday, so guess we were a little further apart than I thought :D
