From the Past
February is Black History Month, a month in which accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor are honored and celebrated. These interesting little textbooks are marked Carver Elementary School (Little Rock) and have a copyright date of 1962. They appear to be what are known as "Dick and Jane" books but were written for and used by black children.
Lovely lights at Christmas party in downtown Little Rock.
Hibiscus mutabilis, also known as the Confederate rose, Dixie rosemallow, or the cotton rosemallow, is a plant noted for its showy flowers. Mine has certainly been a "showoff" this summer!
