At the Water's Edge
And so begins the season of exploring water and all its mysteries . I was surprised by my own words, as I encouraged the boys to change into swim trunks before we began an after school walk to the lake. April 26! What was I thinking entertaining time in the water before the sacred mark of water season, Memorial Day? But the warm day, and oppressive before storm humidity invited a little dip in the water. As we approached, I was overtaken with the aroma of life within the water, a freshness I find hard to put words to, and I paused and prayed this smell might be a part of my heaven.

The explorer
This kid is hard to contain within four walls, but take him outdoors and his breathing slows, he becomes calm and takes everything in. He doesn't need to be outside to scream and yell and run, he needs to be outside to center and find focus. We are cut from the same cloth, he and I. Rowan at Shaddox Hollow Trail, March 2016.

Forest of Fire
Living with tall pines surrounding us means we don't get to see the sunset, but it doesn't mean we don't get to experience it. Sun floods through the trees creating beautiful nightly scenes. This late autumn afternoon we took advantage of the few remaining leaves for a photoshoot.

Snow Bear
This little guy was so excited to explore the snowy woods. The clouds provided a beautiful, soft, diffuse light and allowed us to shoot midday.

Untitled
In downtown Rogers, a restoration project has been underway, and with it the mess of a constructions site: yellow tape, scaffolding and debris. The linear lines and grays were too tempting for me not to shoot on, so when Christian wanted some of her senior portraits downtown for the symbolism of "in progress" and the sharp angles and dark colors juxtaposed against her creamy complexion and softness.

About Me
Hiya! I am a professional photographer in Northwest Arkansas of Rogers. I do portrait photography, and for pleasure and a challenge I shoot nature and photojournalism. I am left handed, I can't chew gum without remembering not to swallow it, I'm terrified of those exploding cans of biscuits, and I live for the little pearls of the everyday.
