Nesting Great Horned Owl
My first capture of the Great Horned Owl
What's a guy to do?
Living in Arkansas for 11 years has not changed our family loyalty to Chicago baseball. Had my family in town for the 4th of July and told them to bring their favorite team jersey for a family photo. Well someone is the odd man out. I do have my sons convinced that Hogs and SEC football rules though.
Yesterday was Kids Fishing Derby Day at Arkansas Post National Memorial just outside of Gillett Arkansas. Came up to this little guy eating a donut while fishing I asked him what was he going to do with the donut if he got a fish on his line......well this is the look I got. (Written release obtained)
B-17 Crash Site Memorial
A little known memorial is a true gem. On March 12th, 1943 a B-17 Flying Fortress with engine trouble crashed just outside of Sheridan Arkansas killing all 9 Army Air Corp men aboard. This site remained little known and marked only with a small memorial marker until the Sheridan American Legion and Disabled American Veterans of America took this swampy area and turned it into the most beautiful memorial for these 9 airmen and all of Grant counties military who gave all for our country. This photo shows the reflection of one of the counties combat veterans from Vietnam calling off the names of those lost during the Vietnam War. Take the time to make the short trip from the Little Rock area to this beautiful memorial site. You will not be disappointed, but moved by all the work and volunteer work that went into making this a place of remembrance that it is. Not a single dime of government funds was used to build this monument, but local businesses, private donations and a lot of personal sweat built this incredible memorial. To learn more and it's location, go to B-17 Memorial Park on Facebook.
Remembering Those Who Gave All
Yesterday in Gillett, Arkansas, a memorial service to all those who have fallen in the line of duty from the Gillett and Tichnor area were honored in the tolling of the bell once for each and a salute from Navy veteran Donald Hubsch. The American Legion honor guard from Dewitt, presented the colors.
Watching over nest
This Barred Owl was sitting close to it's nest which was made in a hollow tree. Love the various calls of the Barred Owl.
20 mph winds makes for a slightly more difficult perch for this boy.
Up Close In The Wild
That rare occasion when the opportunity to photograph our national bird is up close and personal.
Natural Wood Frame
Eagle resting on old cedar.
This majestic beauty came down and quickly snatched up a nice size bass then flew over me to show me what he caught. Headed to the nest to feed.
I have been in Arkansas for 11 years. During this time, I have traveled as many back roads and seen Arkansas from so many perspectives. I truly love the beauty of this state, from the Mountains to the Delta. My first love is wildlife, Arkansas has been a gold mine for me. The wildlife is endless. I love photography as it is my escape. Spending time with God's creations is truly amazing.
